QMIC Showcases its Latest Innovations at Gulf Traffic 2012, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Doha: November 20th, 2012: the Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) at the Qatar Science and Technology Park is participating in the Gulf Traffic Exhibition being held in Abu Dhabi, UAE between Nov. 19th and Nov. 21st. The Gulf Traffic exhibition is a three-day event dedicated for roads, public transport and parking sectors. More than 100 exhibitors participated, highlighting the latest innovations, studies, products and services in traffic and transport infrastructure.

QMIC’s main focus in this expo was showcasing Masarak™, it’s locally-built Intelligent Transportation, Road Safety and Logistics system and suite of services. QMIC built this in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP). Masarak has many significant applications and services that can effectively make ones lifestyle and trips safer and more convenient. The Masarak solution includes a comprehensive intelligent traffic monitoring platform and applications, an intelligent Dispatching system, an intelligent fleet management system, crowd management applications, intelligent navigation and traveller info and intelligent vehicle tracking services.

QMIC is also exhibiting their Connected Cars – Cooperative ITS initiative, which was announced earlier this year. QMIC is leading Cooperative ITS in the region and is working diligently to create significant local car-to-x safety services and technology platform for deployment in Qatar in preparation for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. QMIC’s Cooperative ITS platform has been developed following the latest relevant standards from ETSI. This platform has performed well in tests against other global implementations in ETSI/ERTICO Plugtests, which were held in the last few months.

A pivotal part of QMIC’s road map is to eventually expand its innovations to the rest of the Gulf region, as they have been tailored to work efficiently in it. Meeting with global and local exhibitors and organizations will bring QMIC closer to achieving this objective.
