QMIC Declared Winner of Information Technology Award at International Public Transport and Mobility Congress in Geneva

The 60th Biennial World Congress of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) took place this year in Geneva, Switzerland, between May 26th to May 29th, with strong participation from a number of leading Qatari entities including top officials from the Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC). In the last day of the event, QMIC was declared as the regional award winner for Information Technology in the Middle East and North Africa for its Intelligent Dispatch System, which is part of its MasarakTM Solution. Masarak is an intelligent platform and integrated suite of services developed by QMIC and is jointly owned by QMIC and the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning.

The UITP congress was launched this year under the slogan “Grow with Public Transport” to raise awareness and to promote the public transportation to all government authorities, public transport companies, and third party solution providers who play a role in the public transportation. Over 2,000 delegates, dignitaries, policy makers, and top officials from many international transport companies and world government agencies have attended the congress this year.

During the UITP congress, hundreds of experts in the field of public transportation and mobility delivered presentations on the progress that been made in public transportation, to tackle the pressing issues, to provide visibility on successful programs and campaigns in promoting public transportation and to educate the audience on latest technologies and innovations in this field.

One of the major spot lights in this congress was the  announcement of the regional award winners that recognize stakeholders who have formulated and implemented ambitious and innovative solutions that contribute to more and better public transport worldwide. To this end, QMIC was declared as the winner of the regional award for Information Technology in the Middle East and North Africa for its State of the Art Intelligent Dispatch System which is part of its Masarak Solution. Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, the Executive Director and CEO of QMIC received the award on behalf of QMIC and the Masarak teams.

On this occasion, Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya said “We are very proud to receive such an honorable award from a very prestigious international body like UITP. This is a clear testament to the progress we made in developing locally engineered innovations that will have a regional impact and value in the important area of intelligent public transport systems and services. We want to express our gratitude to the Ministry of Municipality and Urban planning for jointly working with QMIC for the development and realization of Masarak”

Meanwhile, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Khal, Director of Masarak said: “This award represents a great recognition for the value and relevance of our comprehensive Masarak platform and services, in general, and for our integrated and intelligent advanced dispatching system, in particular. I want to sincerely thank all our partners for their trust in us that allowed us to reach this stage of outstanding achievement”.
